Bad news for the craft shop

Hello again, I can't believe what has happened. I went to the shop that was selling my cards yesterday to restock and was told the bad news that the shop assistants had been given notice and that the shop is to close down on the 14th June. I was so shocked and angry, the shop was a brilliant idea and gave all crafters the opportunity we need to get our work seen. There are lots of empty shops already in Wigan, there will soon be nothing worth going shopping for!

Quilling and other cards

This week I have been concentrating more on my quilling techniques, but I have also come up with a couple of other creations. I am taking four of my quilled cards to the shop today so we will see if they will sell.

These two cards were made from spiral paper roses and quilled leaves.

I took my inspiration for this design from Nelli's blog. The design is all quilled with a paper pricking border and flowers.

This card I used a piece of vellum for the white frame, it is a paper that I haven't used before. The flower I painted myself onto the vellum and then cut it out.

This is a paper pricking frame with a Victorian vase picture, which I cut out from a piece of wallpaper. This was a spare of the moment design, I was just playing with ideas and out popped this little card!

paper flower cards

This week I have been concentrating on making paper flowers and paper pricking, these are the cards that I have come up with.

The roses are quilled flowers, the stems I embroidered onto the card using fern stitch and I added a few pearl beads to give the rose bowl some shape. The border is the paper pricking technique again.

This card I planned on putting more flowers on but I thought that it looked better kept simple with just the one flower.

This card is made by using more of the paper pricking technique with decoupage flowers that I cut out from some wallpaper.

I hope that you all have enjoyed my cards, I am going to try more of the quilling designes so I will keep you all posted.

Paper pricking and quilling mix

Hello everyone, today I am showing you all a card made by paper pricking and quilling. The paper pricking technique is very easy to do, you can use all sorts of templates and patterns or even make up your own. The patterns are made by pricking the paper with a large needle which I stuck in a wine cork so that it would be easier to hold. I think the patterns that you can make look very feminine, almost Victorian in style and can be used in combination with all different styles of cards.

I still haven't got my pinterest working yet, I have sent another email off to the help team but I am still waiting for their reply. If anyone would like to look at more pictures of quilling click on this link and you will find Neli's quilling blog it is very good.

Quilled 50th

Hello, I hope that you are all well and have enjoyed all the lovely warm weather, it is back to cold again but not to worry. I have finished my 50th Birthday card. I decided on a big 50 filled with quilling and then did a border by paper pricking, this is a simple design but I thought it worked well and didn't need anything else, in the end I was pleased with the result.

I have called this next card summer flower, it was made by embroidering flowers  then stretching it over card  petal shapes. I am not to sure if I am happy with this design or not there is something that I don't like about it but can't quite put my finger on it.

This weeks update

Hello everyone, what a lovely sunny week it has been it makes you feel like summer is on its way! I have been busy this week making more cards. I have sold one card that I know of so far in the shop, I have sold two to my mum's friend and I have an order for a 50th birthday card. I am planning to try a quilled card for the 50th. I have found some lovely paper in the pound shop af all places. My plan is to to do a big number 50 filled with quilling.
I have signed up on pinterest but I am having some problems with it at the moment. I was planning to show you all some lovely quilled cards that I have found but in the last couple of days my boards are not showing up, I have just got the round circle going round and round. If anyone knows anything about pinterest and can help I would apreciate it.
Anyway I have three cards  that I have made this week.

The heart card I tried paper pricking, it is a technique that I haven't done before it is so easy to do and gives a nice effect. You can see it in the corners and around the edges I have threaded gold thread through the holes to make a border.
